The Mezcalarians

The Mezcalarians is a psychedelic-mezcal-pickled-western that straddles the worlds of narrative and documentary film.

Follow three explorers as they embark on a hearty expedition to carry a 50 gallon wood barrel full of fermenting agave through the most remote corners of Oaxaca, Mexico. Armed with only machetes and mezcal the trio must rely on an ancient map to navigate their way through snake filled swamps, sunken temples, demon filled caves, and haunted rail lines (all while heavily intoxicated). Along the way, the team meets some of Oaxaca's greatest artisans who are single handedly keeping Pre-Colombian indigenous culture and tradition alive.

Both fun and educational, The Mezcalarians is a meticulously researched love letter to Oaxaca. Even locals and scholars will learn something new about what makes Oaxaca one of the most unique regions on the planet.  More at IMDb.com
